Someren Glen’s Adult Day program offers care-givers a respite from caring for the older adult they love – and provides a vibrant life for the older adults who participate.
Recently, we heard of how valuable this community is in the lives of a participant and his daughter.
“It’s such a loving environment. I can go to work and know Dad’s not only cared for but cared about and is engaged intellectually. To me, that’s a real gift. I couldn’t work if I didn’t have someplace for Dad where he felt secure and comfortable. Dad knows these are his friends. ”- Dianne Pape, daughter of Fred, who has been attending Someren Glen Adult Day for four years.
Dianne said her Dad has always loved music, and particularly enjoys the sing-a-longs and musicians who visit. She also appreciates the variety of programming offered, like field trips and cognitive stimulation. She recalled one day when her Dad, an electrical engineer, was excited to walk in and see they had a periodic table out and were discussing the elements.
Most importantly are the relationships her Dad has developed with team members and the personalized care they provide. Like calling her when they notice her father isn’t himself; the card they gave him wishing him nice travels when he went to see his son in Florida. Or the one afternoon she came to pick him up and found him beaming as he danced with a team member.
“They truly care.”
